Faces was formed in 1969 in a kind of fusion from two bands, Small Faces and Jeff Beck Group (Ron Wood and Rod Steward. This is their debut album, recorded from December 1969 to January 1970 at De Lane Lea Studios in London.
A funny and might be true story; When Wood and Stewart entered the band from Jeff Beck Group, right after singer and guitarist, Steve Marriott, left The Small Faces – the “small” part of the original band name was dropped. The story tells that this happened because the two new members (at 5,9″ and 5,10″ height) were a lot taller than the three former Small Faces.
While writing I am almost done listening the album. Again, this is not a top 10 favorite, but it’s certainly been a pleasure listening. Really well and professional played and composed, but with this line-up of brilliant musicians that would be expected of cause. Recommended album for buying or just listening.
